As with all students, the end of the year is riddled with activities - some fun, some not so fun but all memorable. All these activities, for us, were piled on top of us trying to get ready for a trip to Disney (more on that to come in a later blog post) Why must we pack the end of the year with so much stuff for students?
Just some highlights of some things that went on at Elaina's school towards the end of the year.
Night of the Arts - where all the children showcase a piece of their artwork around the school halls.
Here is Elaina's piece:
2nd grade field trip to the zoo- I was able to join them for this trip. It was very fun and great weather.
Elaina and her friend Madison
Tatum, Elaina, and Madison
Ashtyn, Savannah, Madison, Tatum and Elaina - I told them to snore and the three silly girls on the right did. This was a replica of a bed that a gorilla would sleep in
The girls rode a camel and had a super fun time!
And, Field Day - I got to go this year. I have been unable to go in the past so it was fun to do that with her class this year. The whole thing was a "Who let the Dogs Out" theme so all the games and activities centered around dogs. Their shirts were cute too with that phrase on it.

A mom/daughter selfie
And some video of a couple of the events. I got to help with one of them so I got some good footage of Elaina and her friend Tatum's turn with the feed the dog game.
Here is Elaina in the Big Wheel race. The big wheels were not so great on the asphalt. But, it was entertaining to watch them struggle. Am I terrible?
Back before school ended, Elaina had her spring piano recital. She had one right before Christmas and it was great...take my word for it because I accidentally deleted all the picture and video of that recital from my camera before I downloaded them. Nice one, huh? Anyways....can't do anything about that.
So, this time, I was careful not do that. Elaina has really done well in her piano and has come a long ways from the little girl who said she was "too little" to do recitals. She just gets up there and plays and shows little to no nerves. So, that's all we can ask for - that she do her best.
Just a few shots of her at the recital...and some video:
The lighting is funky in this room we were in....so the pics are pinkish looking.
Erik hates this picture because he says he looks like a giant. Sorry, Erik. Had to get the family pose in the blog post
Erik's sister Melinda came - it was so nice to have her there.
And Mamaw came too. She hasn't missed one yet :) Not sure why this picture is sideways.
And a video - these are tunes you should recognize
Elaina recently said...."Mama, I want to go putt putt again soon."
A few Friday's ago, we had a free night so we went. And, had a great time.....
Just some action shots from the day. Our dear friends, Carl and Sabrina, met us there. She texted me hours before to see if she could meet me to drop something off. I told her where we would be and asked if she wanted to play too. And, the rest is history.
Elaina has been really into wanting crutches. So, in between holes, she borrowed my and Erik's putters and turned them upside down to make crutches. She loved it.
We all scored a hole in one....Elaina scored more than 1
Afterwards we blew some money in the arcade. All those tickets and she picked out candy and these things...a silly straw that is in the shape of glasses.
I broke them while washing them the next day - before she ever used them.
mom fail!
But, at least I got this picture of her with them on before I did that.
I had to go on another business trip for a few days. I am having crazy luck with my trips lately. I got stuck in New Mexico in February for 3 extra days due to snow and ice. Then this last trip, it took me 6 hours to get back from Atlanta. Atlanta traffic - *sigh* No need to say any more.
I got back after Elaina was in bed and found this outside her door....
This is the good stuff, I tell ya.
Good. Stuff.
When I flipped it around....
The "your sweet love bug" slayed me!!!
I know, I am 100% biased. But, I am 110% sure she is the sweetest!!
I was happy to oblige and go in and kiss her on the cheek.
Easter snuck up on me this year. But, it was filled with all the usual...egg dying, egg painting, egg hunting, egg eating. And, an Easter bunny.
She painted eggs with my mom but that was done one afternoon after school. I wasn't there, not anyone else. Just my mom and Elaina. But, I know it was a special time.
We kept a friend of mine's kids Friday/Saturday. My friend is a CPA so early April is busy month for her. We were happy to have her kids. Here they are dying eggs and posing...
They dressed up for church Friday night....fancy!
The next day we met up with their mom at an Easter egg hunt. There was face painting there...one of Elaina's favorite thing to do. This one turned out cute - and matched her dress.
Elaina, Gracie, and Katherine with their loaded up baskets
The next morning was Easter...the bunny came and left these goodies.
And now some Easter day family poses in our Easter best....
Afterwards we went to Erik's parents for a low country boil. No picture of the food but let me just say it was DELISH! Complete with crab legs, shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, and kielbasa. I think that was it. Elaina enjoyed a round or 4 of egg hunting. Weather was perfect. A very good day!
